I present you with the below exchange which occurred to me (and variants of which are hurled often enough at us unbelievers):
Muslim: You just want to be an atheist so you can have sex and drink and do whatever you want!
Me: Yeah, pretty much!
It may surprise you to know that I actually hear such things often enough to be discouraging when it comes to our species’ intellectual abilities. These sorts of arguments are often thinly veiled and envious snubs by the believers and, in any case, do not even constitute an argument for the existence of a god. In any case, life is short. One can miss out on quite a lot if afraid of one’s own shadow and the divine displeasure of an invisible over-lord.
