The story of Isaac and Abraham is familiar enough to Jews, Christians and Muslims. These groups often claim religion gives us important lessons we would otherwise be lost without. Here are some take-aways from the story of Isaac and Abraham:
Love — God demands to be honored and loved above all others. According to Bukhari (Volume 1, Book 2, Hadith Number 14), Anas reported Muhammad saying “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.”
Faith — If you hear a voice in your head telling you to drown your newborn infant in a bathtub, it may in fact be God, so make sure not to immediately write-off these voices as hallucinations.
Obedience — What might seem morally outrageous to you might be required. After all, the Lord works in mysterious ways.
