My inspiration for this cartoon came from a hadith (story attributable to the prophet or his companions) that will be common to many of those who were raised in the Islamic way. This particular hadith can be comforting in times of stress. It outlines the general approach in which a Muslim is to move through their life – with one eye constantly affixed to the Hereafter, rather than getting overly-anxious about the brief time in the here-and-now. To me, this approach to life is somewhat captured in the common American proverb: “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
For those interested in further reading, the hadith can be found in Sahih Bukhari: Volume 8, Book 76, Number 425.
